OK, the TV next door is blaring some Spanish-language Jerry Springer knockoff and is going to get really old, really fast. I'm going to have to bring the surround system from home and establish audio supremacy.
In answer to any earlier question, Jake's jaws are not wired shut. They installed some sort of surgical braces with attached rubber bands. I think they are kind of like regular dental braces on steroids. I haven't really gotten a good look yet, cause it's not like he wants me poking around in his mouth. I guess it will be more comfortable than having his jaws wired, since he will be able to open his mouth a little, but he will still be on a liquid diet for 6 weeks. I don't think it will have to be stuff pureed beyond recognition, because he won't have to strain stuff through his teeth.
On to another question regarding visitors; Jake is still really wiped out from surgery, so for now he just wants to sleep. His parents are accepting visitors, in case anyone cares.
Lastly, on the question of when we will be home, it's starting to look like it will not be happening today, unless it is very late. For now, Jake is just sleeping and keeping ice packs on his face. He was able to take an oral pain medication earlier, but I think he needs to work on his fluid intake, as well as his physical therapy, before he will be ready to be discharged.
