The surgeon was in tonight to take care of a bunch of prep for Thursday's surgery. He gave us the litany of risks involved and had Jake sign the informed consent documents. You really get a sense that your child is an adult when he is the one who signs the legal docs. I didn't even get to co-sign for him.
The MD also took some "before" photos from various angles around Jake's head. (I got to practice a little medicine; I held up the dark cloth backdrop for the photos.) He finished by taking molds of his upper and lower jaw. I recall that type of thing as fairly uncomfortable at the dentist. Doing it with your face all broken up looked excruciating, but Jake seemed to handle it fine.
Now we need to bring some photos from home, so they know what he's supposed to look like.
He's been out and about today. Was able to get up and go to the bathroom to rinse the leftover mold material out of his mouth.
There's a bunch of other news, but I'll post that later. Right now I'm really tired.
