OK, quick update today. One of my co-workers has requested more pictures, so here's one of Jake taken at the orthopedic surgeon's office yesterday.

And, she also specifically requested more of Leo in the blog, so here he is, extremely unhappy about modeling one of my work shirts.
I think he thought he was being punished and admittedly he's not the first to suffer from my taste in clothes.Tonight, following Jake's clearance for a soft food diet, I slipped the surly bonds of the blender and served a dish of lasagna. It's nice to be able to prepare "real" food again.
Jake had lost about 20 pounds, we think, but I would guess that the weight will start coming back pretty quickly now. He still can't completely taste his food though, so maybe it will still take a bit of effort. He's apparently been working hard on his bite; the range of motion in his jaw has already increased about 20% since yesterday, so he should be back up to the Double-Double in no time.
Wow, I can post comments again! Yipee. Too bad I've nothing to add to the above. Maybe those who haven't been able to post will find the open window as I did! Hurry!
ReplyDeleteMy girls will be pleased to see a new photo of Jake. They are both at work right now, but I will show it to them when they get in, so expect another comment from us.
ReplyDeleteHe actually looks really well considering every thing he has been through, I hope he is feeling as good as he looks.
I wouldn't worry about the weight loss, if he's anything like my sons as soon as he is able to eat you will have trouble keeping the fridge and cupboards full.
Much love,
Lia xx
Bailey used to think Leo was kinda hot - until she saw him in that shirt. Now she's not so sure she wants to meet him.
ReplyDeletePoor Leo. Talk about a hang-dog 'tude. I can't blame him though, looking at that shirt. It's a good thing you haven't worn that shirt to work, as it would probably give rise to questions about all sorts of personal things...
ReplyDeleteWell THAT'S the saddest thing I've seen in a long while (Leo, not Jake). Jake looks fantastic but don't tell him because his head will swell and swelling, at this stage, is still bad.
ReplyDeleteI was going to include a link to a list of "Things you don't want to hear during surgery" but since I'm filled with dignity and grace, I won't. Yet.
Off the subject but here's an idea for those of you who have trouble posting a comment because the window won't open up. It wasn't allowing me to add a comment but while I was reading the comment screen I hit the "refresh button" and lo and behold, it opened for me. Try that, or abracadabra or one of Harry Potter's incantations (doesn't the new movie open today/soon?)
